Doctoral research
I am researching the embodied experience of women having legally consensual sex which is deep down unwanted.
There is little research on what consensual unwanted sex with men is like for women, especially in relation to their bodies. This potentially speaks volumes on how society interacts with sex, staying clear of how it feels in the body and securing it as a cognitive or biological function. By looking at women’s narratives around consensual but unwanted sex, it is possible to gain a wider understanding of not only the individual experience but also the socio-cultural impacts. With this work I have the opportunity to see the female body and its relationship with sex as political, and with this necessitate change for the future.
Would you like to tell me of an experience of having consensual unwanted sex? What it felt like in your body, and what it meant for you? If yes, please do get in contact.
